ArthurGuy: Voice over IP

Hi Arthur, you're well ahead of the pack. Inevitably the home VoIP PBX will become commonplace but it could take a few years. In the UK you're fortunate that BT has decided to be proactive. I'm not noticing T1 carriers anywhere else following the lead.

From the carriers point of view converting to VoIP should be a good option as they can focus on building one network that will support all types of media, not just voice or not just data.
VoIP PBX's in the home and in offices will become more common but because of the potential for ENUM to reduce the costs of calls to zero the telcos may not be very proactive in promoting the system.
